Camera Angles:
  • At the very beginning whilst the titles are being displayed there is a slow zoom into a pumpkin. The pumpkin was originally at a long shot position and then transitions into a extreme close up of the pumpkin. This creates dramatic effect.
  • There is also a freehold camera angle at the beginning of the film which gives the point of view of Mike Myers. Apart from giving the view of Mike Myers from a low angle as he is a child, this camera angle also creates a sense of easiness combined with the non-diegetic soundtrack.
Editing:
  • The titles are on the right hand side of the screen, next to the pumpkin.
  • The transition of the titles that are originally coloured yellow then change to orange then to red could connotate blood and danger.
  • The titles also fade in quickly and fade out slowly.
  • When Halloween is displayed in the title sequence, it is in the largest font size to make sure that it seperates itself and stands out from the rest of the title sequence.
Sound:
  • The introduction to the film has a child-like soundtrack.
  • The non-diegetic atmospheric sound helps create tension with a sense of emptyness.
  • The non-diegetic sound is first played when he looks at the window. This could create the illusion that there could be something inside the house.
