Miss En Scene: The film is set in America, where in the film, it is often raining which may have been done to help create a dark and sadistic atmosphere. Morgan Freeman is dressed in the iconic 'detective' outfit consisting if a trench coat and a hat. This outfit is instantly recognisable as being one worn by the likes of Sherlock Holmes.
Editing: The beginning of this movie has been imitated many times throughout various horror/thriller movies such as SAW. The beginning starts with the opening of a book in which some words are crossed out.
